Trataka Meditation for Third Eye Activation
Trataka, or tratak, is an ancient technique used to improve your focus and stimulate your third eye chakra and pineal gland. This technique is used in both meditation and yoga and can greatly help you find inner peace, as it helps center and ground you, allowing you to find balance and calm your mind and body. But trataka is also used for third eye activation, and can stimulate the chakra and allow it to awaken.
If you are interested in the third eye chakra and have research many different articles talking about this mysterious psychic eye, then this technique can help you active this chakra. But when it comes to activating the third eye, you need to do the necessary preparation and do your research before you start. Some people have very intense and frightening experiences.
What is the Third Eye
The third eye chakra, or ajna chakra, is the chakra located in the middle of your forehead, and is usually depicted as an indigo or purple eye, as that is the color of this particular chakra. The third eye and crown chakra are the two spiritual chakras that are directly connected to the universe, our higher self and our intuition. These two chakra are what keeps us connected to the spiritual realm, and without them, we would be completely earthbound. We would rely solely on our physical senses, and unable to feel that we are part of something greater.
The third eye is our window to our spirituality, allowing us to “see” with our spiritual eye, the eye of true wisdom and the eye that senses the world in a non-physical way. It allows us to use our intuition, sensing our situations in a far less logical way, but a more intuitive way. Being connected to ones intuition can greatly help you navigate through life, as you will be confronted with many situations that may look fine on the surface, but which give you this gut feeling that something is wrong. Third eye meditation can help you awaken this chakra and help you reconnect with it, so that you will receive spiritual guidance from your intuition.
What is the Pineal Gland
So now that we know what the third eye is, what exactly is the pineal gland and how are the two things connected? The pineal gland is a tiny hormone producing gland in the middle of your brain. This gland helps control your sleep, by producing melatonin and releasing it into your brain. But besides producing this sleep hormone, the pineal gland also produces DMT (Dimethyltryptamine), also known as the spirit molecule. The reason this natural psychedelic drug has gotten this name, is because of its ability to alter a persons sense of reality. Some people believe it is all hallucinations, but others believe the body creates this drug to allow us to enter other dimensions, and even push out the astral body. That might be the reason why the brain produces this hormone during sleep and death. These are the two times where we may be leaving our physical body to enter the spiritual realm.
If you look at ancient art and architecture, you will find that many cultures have a pine cone showing up on their work. The pineal gland has the shape of a pine cone, hence the name, which has lead people to believe that the secret of this gland has been known for a long time. Maybe the knowledge was lost over the many generations, or maybe it was kept hidden as some people believe. But nevertheless, the secret of this mystical pine cone shaped gland is resurfacing, and people are showing a renewed interest in this mystical gland.
How to Practice Trataka Meditation
So now that you know a little bit about the third eye and the pineal gland, let us proceed to the actual exercise. Trataka is a very simple meditation technique and all it requires is a candle and a couple of minutes. Take your candle and place it in front of you.
Step 1
Sit in a comfortable meditation posture and take a moment to calm your mind and body. Take a few cleansing breaths to clear your mind. Breathe deeply and slowly to release stress from your mind and tension from your body.
Step 2
Now gaze at the flame of the candle. do not stare or strain your eyes, but simply gaze at it. Keep your eyes open for as long as you can. You will most likely begin to tear up a bit as your eyes get dry. When you are unable to keep your eyes open any longer, close them and keep them closed.
Step 4
Now keep your mind still and allow a mental image of the flame to appear in your minds eye. Do not force the image to appear, but simply observe. If nothing manifest, don’t worry, that is completely normal. Take a couple of deep breaths to calm your mind and body.
Step 5
Now open your eyes once again and gaze at the flame. Keep your eyes open but keep them calm and relaxed. Then one again, as they begin to irritate, close your eyes and keep them closed.
Step 6
Just as you did in the previous round, observe your mental screen and wait for the candle to manifest. Maybe you will only see the outline of the candle, maybe you will see something like a dark shape, or maybe you won’t see anything. Keep observing and give your mind the time it needs to manifest this image on your mental screen. Once again breathe deeply and cleanse your mind.
Step 7
Then open your eyes one last time and gaze at the flame for as long as your eyes allows. Then close your eyes and allow them to relax.
Step 8
Observe your mental screen and watch for any shape or figure of the candle to show. You may be able to see more this third time, than the two previous times. Simply observe and don’t try to force the image to appear. It has to appear naturally and by itself. breathe deeply and clear your mind.
Only do three rounds as you do not want to cause headaches or damage on your eyes. Listen to your body, and if you feel any discomfort, simply end the exercise.
