Essential Oil Recipes for Relaxation
Essential oils are becoming very popular, and you can use these magical oils for almost everything from skincare, pain relief and sleep. One of the greatest effects of these oils is the soothing effect they have on the body and mind. Many oils can help you calm down and relax in a natural and medication-free way. Some oils promote activity while others promote relaxation and inner peace. But it can sometimes be difficult to blend these oils without essential oil recipes, as there are just so many oils to choose from. Since we are all different, you need to experiment and find a blend that works for you. But here are some recipes that can help you relax.
Diffuser
If you have a diffuser, than add the required amount of water and then add:
- 3 drops of roman chamomile
- 3 drops of lavender
If you need something to help you fall asleep, you can also add a few drops of cedarwood to the blend.
Bath Salt
Bath salt is great for cleansing the body and treating yourself to a spa like experience in your own home, whenever you need to just detach and relax. Make your very own bath salt from scratch to help you completely calm down with soothing essential oils. So to make your own bath salt, follow this recipe.
Take a bowl and add:
- 1 1/2 cup of Epsom salt
- ¼ cup of baking soda
- ¼ cup of sea salt
- Add 10 drops of lavender essential oil and mix.
- Optional: add a little food coloring to give it a nice look
Mix it all together and add some to your bath for a cleansing and relaxing effect.
Topical
As a last essential oil recipe for relaxation, you can also make a topical blend, to rub into your skin for a soothing and relaxing effect. You can also use topical blends for massages but make sure to properly dilute the oils before applying them to your skin, as these oils are very potent and can cause allergic reactions. So follow this recipe to make a topical blend for relaxation.
Keep your blend in a dark glass container and then add:
- 2 tablespoons of your chosen carrier oil
- 5 drops of lavender
- 6 drops of roman chamomile
- Mix it thoroughly
Apply the blend to your neck and shoulders for a soothing effect. For carrier oil you can use any oil you like, though oils like almond oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil, argan oil are some of the recommended oils.
